Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation Doesn't Fit The Bill

Though I normally use high end makeup, I'm always looking for deals and open to trying anything once- which is about as many times as I will ever try Maybelline's new Fit Me Foundation.  This foundation comes in 18 different shades, theoretically making it easy for every woman to find a perfect match.  These shades come in three color categories.  Here are the light shades:
Light: 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135
And the medium shades:

Medium: 210, 220, 225, 230, 235, 245
And finally, the deep shades- please ignore how pale these make me look :)

Deep: 310, 315, 320, 325, 350, 355
While I definitely appreciate there being a larger range of shades than many makeups offer, I still found it difficult to find one that matched my skin perfectly.  In the end, I went with 115, but it had a bit of an orange tone that I definitely didn't care for.  However, this wasn't the worst aspect of this foundation.  What was most disappointing for me was how oily this foundation left my skin after just a few hours.  Initially, it absorbed well into the skin, but it did seem a bit sticky.  My face stayed fairly matte for a couple hours, but then I noticed my t-zone starting to get pretty oily, and by the end of the day, I was super shiny.  Thumbs down!  The only real positive about this foundation is that it has SPF18.  Overall, this foundation is too heavy for anyone with combination  or oily skin.  If you have normal to dry skin, maybe you could give this foundation a shot, but I recommend saving your $8 for something else.

  2. you would think that having so many shades would make the matching process so much easier, but i guess not. can't say any of those shades would work for me either--and then the oil factor is a big negative.

    great review and swatches!
