Randolph Street Market Festival Preview & Giveaway

Hello Lovelies! Yesterday was the first hot day in Chicago this year (nearly 90 downtown), and it reminded me of all the fun summer events and festivals that happen around town each year! One of the earlier events of the summer that I'm particularly looking forward to is the Randolph Street Market Festival, which returns for the season Saturday, May 28th & Sunday, May 29th! The 8th annual Randolph Street Market Festival will feature  200 purveyors selling amazing vintage and modern furnishings, clothing, jewelry, flowers, and more!

The festival will also have food, a full bar (yay), and live music! This is definitely one of the best markets (if not THE best) in the city, and has been compared to Paris’ legendary Le Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen! I'm especially excited because the prices are very reasonable, and sometimes you can do a little bargaining to get an even better deal! The market happens once a month from May through September, and each has a different theme. The theme for this upcoming festival is a "garden party" so I expect there will be lots of great outdoor furniture and decor to spruce up my balcony!

Another great feature of the Randolph Street Market Festival is the new Retro Re-vamp corner, where you can personalize your newly found treasures using decoupage, beading or other techniques to transform your goods into one-of-a-kind pieces! Considering this month's theme- "garden party"- expect to find lots of flowers to sew onto hats, jewels to decorate your sunnies, and even nature-themed silk screening to personalize a new tote! Also, there will be local indie fashion designers (whom I adore), gourmet foods (yum), fabulous vintage items, and even a dog adoption event hosted by a local Humane Society!

While this event already sounds like a real winner, it just keeps getting better! I recently found out that the admission has been lowered, so now admission is just $10 at the gate or $8 if you buy in advance online! Also, if you're a student such as myself (with a valid student ID), you can pick up tickets for just $5, or $3 in advance! What a great deal! Plus, you get a shopping voucher for either $5 (for students) or $10 (for general admission) with your ticket, so if you end up buying something, admission is free!

You can be sure I will be up bright an early to attend this fabulous event! The doors open at 10:00am both days and the festival runs until 5:00pm on Saturday and 4:00pm on Sunday! Early bird admittance is also available on Saturday (at 8:00am) for an extra cost. The entrances to the festival are located on Randolph and Washington Streets, between Ada & Ogden.

  3. I wish I was in town for this! I'm always craving a good outdoor market experience. I'll be at the beach though, so I guess I have no complaints :)

  4. Ohhh I'm embarrased to say I haven't been to the Randolph Street Market Festival yet! I would love the passes. I'm such of fan of these art-focused fairs. You never know what you'll find, and I'm looking for some new pieces to revamp my apartment.

  5. Just another reason I wish I was there. We were supposed to be at a wedding in Chicago this weekend, but the hubs has to go out of town for his MBA program. Le sigh.
