Review: Laura Geller Baked Body Frosting

Hello Lovelies! Every year around this time I face the same dilemma- to show, or not to show my legs. Of course, I love wearing skirts and dresses, but at the same time, I haven't had enough sun exposure to turn my pasty white legs a nice golden brown. Thus, I'm always hesitant to prance around in my summer frocks until I've built up a solid tan. Luckily, I think I've finally found the solution for this between seasons puzzle. An all over body bronzer!

About a month ago I picked up Laura Geller's Baked Body Frosting from Ulta (which I mentioned in this post).  It comes in 4 different colors, but I think the most popular is "honey glow" which was the only shade available at Ulta. Although this product is a bit pricey ($39.75), I saw it advertised on QVC and really wanted to give it a try.

When I first opened the container, I was a little worried that there wasn't enough product to last very long. However, I have since been proven wrong as I have used it approximately 10 times now, and it doesn't seem like there's much less than the first time I used it! To apply, you simply rub the included powder puff into the powder, then rub it on your arms, legs, etc, as if you were waxing a car. :) If you want to use this after applying lotion, make sure your lotion is totally dry, as this bronzer will streak otherwise. Overall, application is fairly simple, and it doesn't take too much effort to get an nice, even glow. Here is a photo of my pasty white leg left next to my "frosted" right leg. My right leg is not only darker, but also looks naturally tan and has a nice sheen.

One thing I was initially concerned with was whether or not this product would rub off onto my clothes. I have found that it does rub off a little, but only when your put clothing on right after applying it. If you wait a few minutes to let it set, then this doesn't seem to be a problem. Also, when it did rub off on my clothes, it washed out easily, so there is no risk of staining (thank goodness)! Although I'd prefer a natural tan, this product definitely helps keep my arms and legs looking beautifully bronzed until the weather warms up enough to soak up the sun! It's also a much healthier (and cheaper) alternative to tanning beds.

Haute Lunch Rating: 4 out of 5 Trays

Do any of you ladies hesitate to show off your legs in the spring as well? Would you be more daring if you had a product like this to give you a temporary tan until summer arrives? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I haven't been tan in years. Haha! Self tanner is my only hope. : )

  2. I'm pale as pale can be, and I've come to accept that. I was pale at my wedding, nobody cared. Although I am thinking of getting a spray tan for our trip to Florida next week - just because I think it will make me appear a little better in my swimsuit. Watch, i'll probably look super freakish but that will only make it all that much more funny!

  4. You know what I like? You don't look orange - I've been scared of bronzer or self-tanner b/c of that, but this looks like good stuff!

  5. I love that it doesn't look orange at all, too! Nothing worse than looking like an Oompa-Loompa (right, Snooki?)! :)

  6. I can't believe how natural it looks! It really does look like you spent a little time in the sun and have a nice healthy glow. That's pretty incredible!

  7. This is great! I'm permanently pasty and tanning isn't really an option. Do you put this on your face? Is it oily? I never know what to do about that.

  9. Andrea- you can totally put this on your face. It's not even a little bit oily. It's more of a really soft, but firmly pressed powder. If you put it on your face though, I would use a powder brush instead of the puff so it doesn't go on too heavy.

And Tanvi- if I had your natural skin color, I'd totally embrace it! :)

  10. I love the natural look it gives! I've never used self-tanner before, I only use what I get from the sun. I'm too afraid to turn out streaky or orange!! I really like how subtle this is though, I may have to pick some up!

  13. I love this!!! I have tried almost every tanning product in every price range under the sun and it's sooo hard to find good ones. My favorite drug store brand is Jergen's glow. This is a new one for me and this looks so great and quick without too much wait. Thanks for the review! I can't wait to try it!

  18. If I just saw this stuff sitting on the shelves at the store I would have cringed and walked away {I am scared from a bad self-tanner experience where I somehow managed to get my feet to achieve the "oompa loompa" {from Willy Wonka} orange!}. Reading your review and seeing your side by side pics has me wanting to run out and buy some for myself! Thanks :)

  22. Body bronzer? YES, PLEASE.
I never hesitate to show my legs because I'm a dirty slut when it comes to dressing.
Okay, that's a lie, but I am a huge fan of showing skin.
Plus, I'm a hot bitch, and hot bitches HAVE to show as much skin as possible at all times without looking like a whore.
