Blues, Booze, and Blogger Woes

Hello Lovelies! I apologize for the lack of a weekly preview yesterday. I worked on the post for about three hours, but somehow blogger failed to save my work (even though it said it had) and I lost nearly everything I had worked on. Since I don't really have time to recreate the post today, I thought I'd just share a bit of my weekend with you.

On Friday, I went down to Bluesfest and caught a few acts. One of my favorite local bands, Guy King & His Little Big Band opened the festival and played extremely well. Although most beauty and fashion bloggers probably aren't huge blues fans, I certainly am, and I'm sure that living in Chicago for so long has helped spark my love of blues (and jazz- which contrary to popular belief, IS different than blues). Here is a photo I snapped of Guy King and his band playing on the Bud Light stage. Perhaps the photo isn't close enough for you to tell, but Guy looks pretty snazzy, which is why my friends and I dubbed him "Mr. GQ."

Another highlight of the festival (which is free- thank you, Chicago) is that Essie was a sponsor and thus was giving complimentary manicures all weekend! I stopped by the tent, but didn't get a manicure myself because the wait time was about two hours and I unfortunately had other things to do. The Essie girls were super sweet, though, and clearly very cute!

I originally planned to go back to Bluesfest on Saturday, but my back was acting up (I broke it when I was 15), so I couldn't really walk around too much. However, while hanging out at home, I did manage to check out a new website called Obvilux, which is very similar to Pinterest, except it's basically just for shopping. It's a pretty fun little site, and you can easily create style-sets (three of my sets are currently in the top six most popular- yay)! Check it out and follow me if you like! My profile name is "taraj." Here is one of my style sets, which is currently the most popular set on Obvilux:
Yesterday was another nice, relaxing day for me. The fiance and I went to Trader Joe's and picked up some ginger beer and pineapple juice to make one of our favorite cocktails, which also happens to involve rum from a local company (love buying local whenever possible)! I will share the recipe with you on Thursday, so be on the lookout! :) We also picked up some produce so I could make a mango salsa to go with the tilapia we had for dinner- yum! I spent the rest of the evening working on the now non-existent weekly preview and hanging out with two of my favorite people (if you count Noodle as a person, that is). :)

What did you do over the weekend? Did you get to go on any fun adventures, or did you have a relaxing weekend at home? Hopefully the weather where you are was nicer than here (it has been a little chilly the last couple days)!

  1. Sucks that blogger lost your work! They've been really annoying lately. I wanted to stop by the Essie booth, but I figured the line would be crazy long. Glad you had fun at Blue's Fest!! I went to Rib Fest, but that's about it. This weather is KILLING me!

  5. FUN!!!! We have an AMAZING folk festival every year in Vancouver (seriously, very very very big and tons of amazing bands come) but tickets are so expensive. I'm jealous of your free festival. Sounds like you had an awesome weekend. I had a dinner party on Saturday night and made some homemade potato salad and homemade BBQ sauce for my ribs which were awesome.
