Weekend Wedding Planning Recap

Hello Lovelies! Now that we're back from our weekend trip, I wanted to share some of the photos I took of the winery we visited this past Friday. As you might know, this was our first bit of wedding planning, so we still have a long way to go before we decide even the most basic of things (where, when, etc). However, I really enjoyed visiting this winery, and look forward to checking out other places in the near future!

Here is the main entrance to the building. Although we want an outdoor wedding, I think the stone archways, as well as that old barn in the background, would make for some pretty great photo ops. I actually wish the barn was in a bit better shape, as I would consider it for the reception.
There were also several other old shacks on location, which I found rather charming, but I'm not sure if others would feel the same.
If we decided to have our wedding & reception here, there would be plenty of space for a tent should we choose to have one, but I'm still not sure if I want that. I would honestly love to have an open air outdoor wedding/reception, but since I also want a fall wedding, I don't think that will be possible.
The beautiful vineyards should nicely contrast against the red, yellow, and orange leaves in the fall, which would make for another great photo op.
Here's another shot of the vineyards. While the land was quite lovely, my fiance and I both agreed that we would really love it if there were some water (e.g. pond or stream) nearby. Still, I love the rustic feel of this location, and will keep it in mind as we continue our search.
As for the food and wine, we were quite pleased with both. The menu featured a lot of seafood Friday evening, and we tried a bit of almost everything! There were only a few items I didn't really enjoy, and all the deserts were phenomenal (though I guess that isn't as important if we only plan on having a cake). While some of the wines were more typical of wines from the midwest (not too impressive) there were actually a few we tried that were rather tasty. The white wines were most impressive, but there were a couple reds that I didn't hate. Luckily, my fiance plans on brewing a couple beers for our wedding, plus we want a full open bar, so there will be plenty of options when it comes to the libations (I love that word)! :)

So, what do you all think of this first location? If you've gone through this whole process, do you have any tips regarding the selection of a venue or important things to think about that I have overlooked so far? I'd love to hear your thoughts and any advice you can offer!
